Individuals with Disabilities
Preparing for Work: |
Assessment |

Individuals with disabilities often possess marketable skills that can be utilized in a number of jobs. Assessment services assist these individuals in identifying their skills in order to establish an appropriate vocational goal. Following the assessment, a comprehensive report is written documenting objective results, observations and recommendations. Specialized evaluations are also available for individuals with brain injury or industrial injury. Assessment services include:
Vocational Evaluation uses a variety of work samples, trial jobs, achievement, aptitude and interest tests to obtain accurate data regarding vocational potential and interest. An assessment of work behaviors, physical capacities and independent living skills may also be part of the evaluation, as well as trial jobs in the facility.
Community Based Work Assessment provides the individual supervised job tryouts in areas related to their specific vocational interests. Participants explore their vocational potential in business environments working with competitive employees and supervisors under the guidance of an assessment coach. Established sites are available in a broad range of occupations and customized sites can be developed. Participants are paid commensurate with their work performance. Travel training and transportation needs are addressed on an individualized basis.
Learning Capacities Assessment is a unique, individualized approach to task and skills acquisition. Individuals who fail to learn new skills, behaviors or information through traditional methods require specialized techniques to help them perform successfully on the job, in vocational or academic training programs, rehabilitation programs, community employment, or other settings. The Learning Capacities Specialist provides the following services: administration of a screening assessment; development of an individualized approach to resolving vocational problems using the individual's preferred learning style; a Learning Capacities report documenting the services listed above, and assistance in implementing recommendations whether it be on the job site, at home, or other training program site.
