JVS Background

JVS PURPOSE:

JVS empowers individuals to enrich their lives

JVS PROGRAMS:

JVS programs focus mainly on helping three groups of people:

1) Individuals with developmental disabilities. They work and learn work skills at a JVS Work Center or in the community under JVS supervision.

2) Senior citizens with developmental disabilities. They participate in social and recreational activities.

3) Individuals who want help with their careers and education.

CINCINNATI CAREER NETWORK:

CCN, a JVS program, provides career development and placement services for any individual and employer who seeks help. CCN also works with students to match them with internships and summer jobs and to administer a college scholarship program.

THE COMMUNITY:

Consistent with Jewish values, JVS serves the entire community without regard to religious affiliation or belief.

JVS BOARD:

JVS has a 21-member Board of Trustees led by its Chair, Joel S. (Jody) Brant.

CEO / PRESIDENT:

Peter M. Bloch has served as the top JVS professional since 1998.

JVS employs about 175 people

JVS has an $8 million annual budget

FUNDING:

JVS receives funding from Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services, Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and other sources.

ACCREDITATION / CERTIFICATION:

JVS is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
JVS is certified by the Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio.

AFFILIATIONS:

JVS is a member of the International Association of Jewish Vocational Services.

-  Program of the Year from the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 2010
